5 Reasons Why I Shoot For Large Corporations As a Freelancer

Zulie Rane recently posted an article about why she prefers smaller, micro-clients, as opposed to larger high-paying clients. While I respect her opinion, she is wrong. In the freelance world, at least for those of us trying to make a living, bigger is usually better.

Here is why:

Bigger budgets

This is truly the bottom line, right?

Bigger companies and corporations have much larger budgets to work with in general, but that isn’t necessarily the most important component here. What is most important is that these companies dedicate a large portion of their operating budget to MARKETING (including content writing).

Why does this matter to you, humble freelancer? Simple, the higher-ups have already earmarked that money to be used on writing, they know they will never see it again once it is allocated. And, because none of the content managers in charge of hiring freelancers actually own the company, they could give two shits whether they spend that money or not. This means you get a fat cut of the dough.
