I have had some good success on Upwork too! I have actually only been accepting fixed rate gigs. I usually figure that a fixed rate is more predictable for both the client and myself. I pitch it by telling the client that if I know a lot about a topic it might take me half the time to write it when compared with a topic I know nothing about, yet the article quality of the two in the end will be comparable.
