My problem with renting is that rent prices will likely only increase, so in 10 years you may be paying 2 times as much for the same space. Fixed rate mortgages ensure that you will pay the same rate for the life of the loan, then nothing after you pay it off. To me that benefit outweighs the benefit of being able to move around often.
