That is the trouble with bias, as the writer it is tough, if not impossible to identify your own biases. In my story I was writing in dialogue, family life, and other cultural elements which I believed to be happening in the lives of immigrants, but in reality I had no idea whether my portrayal was accurate or not. This is troublesome because if the piece of work takes off and gets read by millions then suddenly the words of a white man become the controller of the narrative, which to me is problematic.
